Hospitality Industry Accounting

 

The course is aimed to equip students with knowledge concerning recording revenues and expenses using industry practice. Moreover, the procedure of journalizing front office transactions, rebates, food and beverage sales, cash transactions, membership fees will be stressed along with the total daily transaction report. Later, the emphasis will be on departmental income statements, consolidated income statement, and balance sheet. Eventually, students will be able to analyze financial statement using various ratios ranging from profitability, liquidity, asset management, to debt management ratios for the ultimate purpose of prompt decision making and internal control.
Throughout the course, class discussions, involving case studies, fictual or real situations seeking solving uncommon problems will be emphasized.
